LAC is on board with helping to achieve or surpass the Health and Human Services 2010 goals by implementing the following awareness tactics targeted at women under 40 years old:

Conducting national awareness sessions that will help reduce cancer death rates by urging women to engage in early detection by conducting breast self-exams and receiving mammograms.

According to the WebMd Breast Cancer Guide, women (under 40 years old) is more difficult because their breast tissue is generally denser than the breast tissue in older women. By the time a lump in a younger woman's breast can be felt, the cancer often is advanced.

Stressing the fact that women under 40 who have no family history of breast cancer                   http://www.house.gov/apps/list/press/fl20_schultz/EARLYAct.html are often diagnosed with breast cancer, too.

Educating women about genetic risks associated with breast cancer, particularly the BRAC1 and BRAC2 genes, based on data from the National Cancer Institute.

Reaching out to other breast cancer survivors to provide encouragement and support in their battle against breast cancer.

Collaborating with various organizations nationally and globally to engage in  educational and eradication efforts.
